Finding ways to help health care organizations succeed in saving time, money and lives drives innovation at Vecna Medical. By working closely with our clients and customers, we have begun to identify a number of areas in which diverse advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI) can help automate otherwise costly and error-prone processes in health care IT.

The Dynamic Schedule Manager (DSM) system and its sister application, the Dynamic Resource Manager (DRM), are prime examples of this work. DSM can optimize the efficiency of complex human scheduling challenges, such as those at hospitals and other health care institutions. DRM, by contrast, is designed to be a tool to optimize distribution of critical resources in

applications such as disaster management, emergency care including search capacity, and mobile infrastructure.

Early work is also underway toward combining neural networks (a machine learning strategy) and natural language processing for use in bioinformatics applications.

Upcoming Work

The future of Vecna Medical AI research is no less bright. We are already laying the groundwork for developing AI for planning systems, to help with autonomous decision making. Such systems are useful when humans simply don't know what the choices to a given problem might be.

An autonomous AI planning system can not only generate solutions appropriate to the problem, but can also select the best choices. A broad spectrum of applications include robotics, military strategy execution, law enforcement, and homeland security.
